Langkah 1:
Lakukan proses booting melalui disket (Boot Disk). Proses pembutan Boot Disk akan dijelaskan pada bagian selanjutnya.
Langkah 2:
Buat partisi dengan menggunakan utilitas fdisk.exe dari disket.
Ketik: A:\>fdisk, kemudian Tekan [Enter].
Pada pertanyaan “Support Large Partition”, Pilih “Yes” untuk mengkatifkan tipe file system “FAT-32” atau “No” untuk tipe file System “FAT-16”

Langkah 3:
Pilih 1 kembali untuk membuat Primary Partition.
Extended Partition belum dapat dibuat sebelum Primary Partition dibuat terlebih dahulu. Logical Partition belum dapat dibuat sebelum Extended Partition dibuat terlebih dahulu.
Langkah 4:
Lakukan tahap selanjutnya dengan memasukan besar kapasitas partisi yang diingkan.
Langkah 5:
Lakukan langkah-langkah yang sama untuk mebuat Extended Partition dan Logical Partition. Gunakan Tombol [Esc] untuk kembali ke menu awal.

Kembali ke menu Utama dengan menekan Tombol [Esc].

Langkah 3:
Aktifkan partisi C: sebagai partisi yang aktif (menu no.2), yaitu Drive yang dibaca pada saat start-up, lihat kembali hasilnya melalui menu no.4

Perhatikan bahwa Status = A, berarti partisi 1 adalah active partition, yang menjadi default Operating system pada saat mesin dihidupkan.
Langkah 4:
Reboot sistem dengan CD sistem DOS dan kembali pada prompt A:.
Format disk dengan menggunakan peritah berikut:
A:>\ format C: /s
Option /s mempunyai arti, bahwa drive C mempunyai boot sector dengan sistem operasi yang dapat di isi ke memory.
